Voicing: | SATB | |
Words: | Adapted from "Now I lay me down to sleep attributed texts derived from Joseph Addison |
Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
Let angels watch me through the night, And keep me safe till morning light.
And when I waken with the light, ’Tis Jesus kept me through the night;
and while I live another day, I pray that Jesus guide my way. Amen.

A later version printed in The New England Primer goes:
Now I lay me down to sleep,I pray to Lord my soul to keep,If I should die before I wake,I pray the Lord my soul to take.
